    Mixed feedback

“We ordered the beef curry, Chicken 65 Dry, and butter chicken with partita and vellappam . All the dishes were fresh, delicious, and full of flavor.”
  23. Chicken roast Net 0

    Only neutral feedback

“We tried appam, tandoori roti, and chicken roast. I personally felt that the quantity of the half portion of chicken roast could be enough for two, but the supplier still insisted on ordering a full portion, and I don’t know for what reason. This is the second time we have experienced the same issue. The chicken roast was average and overly spicy. The appam was soft, but the roti was overcooked and a bit hard. We also tried their snack items, which were just average and full of oil.”
  24. Kerala meals Net 0

    Only neutral feedback

“I ordered the Kerala meals, and while the food was decent, it didn't quite meet my expectations.”

What to Avoid (9)

Food 8

  1. Beef varattiyathu Net −1
“Had Beef Varattiyathu and Parotta today for Breakfast from the restaurant and The Beef was not at all meet my expectation infact the waiter suggest me that dish thats y i ordered. Meet is not that fresh and its quite chewy also it was not blended with the masala well as when we chew we can feel that boiled beef flavour.”
  2. Chicken curry Net −1
“I tried the chicken curry, but it was not very impressive. The chicken itself lacked flavor and tasted like it had been boiled separately and then added to the gravy. While the curry was decent, the chicken could have been better seasoned and more flavorful.”
  3. Chicken pulao Net −1
“Last night I visited the store ordering 2mutton pulao and 1 chicken pulao. But very bad experience they served like a biriyani type pulao very bad rice and low quantity mutton chicken pieces also then no taste also entirely different from pulao no salt no pulao taste nothing’s like pulao.”
  4. Chicken shawarma plate Net −1
“I ordered a chicken shawarma plate but received what looked like a vegetable shawarma with a few pieces of chicken thrown in(As you can see in the picture). Honestly, you are much better off buying two normal shawarmas instead of the plate. It was hands down the worst shawarma plate I have ever had in the UAE.”
  5. Dragon chicken Net −1
“The Dragon Chicken was the major issue. It had too much colouring and even stained our hands. When I alerted the server, he assured that they do not use food coloring and suggested that it could be "Kashmiri chilli powder," but the bright orange color obviously did not appear natural.”
  6. Pothirachi varattiyathu (beef) Net −1
“The Pothirachi Varattiyathu (beef) was a little disappointing, though; the sauce was served hot, but the meat itself was nearly cold and didn't feel fresh. The curry tasted fine, but the temperature and quality of the meat needed to be improved.”
  7. Shawarma Net −1
“Poor quality & quantity shawarma.this is the first time i have experience. Before they have good quality & Quantity..”
  8. Tandoori roti Net −1

  1. Watermelon juice Net −1
“We received a complimentary Watermelon juice which was ok not that cool would be good atleast if its cold in this summer”

The Bottom Line

Al Madina Wide Range Restaurant is a busy, casual Al Karama restaurant with a distinctly Kerala and South Indian lean. You can come for a full Kerala meal, appam with fish curry, tea and snacks, or a late-night takeaway; the restaurant is reported to operate 24 hours and is close to ADCB Metro. The strongest food leads are appam, fish curry, banana-leaf meals and Kerala snacks such as Payam Pori and Elanji.

Reviews also praise mango curry, fish fry and kingfish curry, while portions are often described as generous and prices as reasonable or budget-friendly. A private dining room is available for small dinners. Expect a lively rather than tranquil setting.

The restaurant can be packed, tables may sit very close together, and service has ranged from prompt to a forgotten tea after a 55-minute wait. Food quality is not uniform either: shawarma, pulao, some chicken curries and certain beef dishes drew specific criticism. For an easier visit, arrive outside peak hours and consider street parking instead of the tight basement.

If choosing from the broad menu, reviews give the clearest support to Kerala and South Indian dishes over butter chicken or shawarma.
