What to Avoid (6)

Food 5

  1. Brisket burger Net −1
“Review on my order: Brisket burger was a bit on the dry side.”
  2. Granola Net −1
“I didnt like the granola, it was like cornflakes with yogurt.”
  3. Machu pichu Net −1
“The machu pichu was a mix of citrus fruits topped with passion sorbet, unfortunately the citrus was over powering, so the passion flavours couldn't stand out.”
  4. Mexican rostada Net −1
“I wouldn't order the Mexican Rostada again. The flavor of the guacamole was odd (see pic).”
  5. Smoked brisket Net −1
“The smoked brisket was meant to be served with mashed potatoes and gherkins. However, it was replaced with pickled onions instead of the gherkins. I wasn’t informed ahead of time of the replacement. Plating was average with the mashed potato having shredded cheese just dumped onto it. Plate was chipped - quite sure it wasn’t the design (see for yourself). I think the taste would have improved/be better complimented with the gherkins rather than the onions (overpowered the smokiness of the brisket). Hence, it was marked down when it really deserved a 4 out of 5.”

Drinks 1

  1. Milkshake Net −1
“Also ordered a milkshake that was basically just chocolate milk in a glass because the staff that made it overmixed the milkshake.”

Tips for a Better Visit

Showing 2 of 6
1

Try breakfast. Breakfast is a dependable starting point; consider the buttermilk pancakes or the large Andes breakfast if sharing.

2

Ask substitutions. If an ingredient does not suit you, ask about a swap: one diner received fries alongside the requested mashed potatoes.

The Bottom Line

Andes is a restaurant in the Trade Centre area with a menu that moves from breakfast and coffee to smoked meats and Latin American dishes. Breakfast is one of its clearest strengths: the buttermilk pancakes arrive with toffee sauce, strawberries, compote and nuts, while the Andes breakfast can be substantial enough for two, with eggs, hash browns, bacon, sausages, bread and avocado mash. For lunch or dinner, the 15-hour smoked brisket is the signature order most often discussed, although results are not completely consistent.

The grilled calamari and tuna ceviche also earn detailed praise, and the ceviche is a good option if you want something lighter and more distinctive. The room is described as airy, comfortable and relaxed, with an outdoor terrace that works well in good weather. Staff are often friendly and willing to accommodate requests, including ingredient substitutions.

Underground or basement parking is available, but check the current terms: one review reported charges after two hours. Service is usually described as good, yet waits have occasionally stretched to 30–40 minutes and one taco promotion involved a much longer delay. For a first visit, breakfast or an off-peak meal may be the safer bet, especially if you are attending a conference and need predictable timing.
