What to Avoid (2)

Food 2

  1. Eggplant mousakaa Net −1
“The second dish I ordered was the Eggplant Mousakaa (55 AED), mainly because I’m avoiding carbs and sugar lately and eggplant is one of my favorite vegetables. The name and description on the menu sold me instantly: “Baked layers of eggplant, chickpeas, green capsicum, tomato sauce, fried onion.” Sounds amazing, right? But what arrived looked nothing like that description. It wasn’t baked. There were no visible layers. It was more like a gazpacho-style dish where everything is floating in a cold tomato-based sauce, with a few chunks of eggplant and chickpeas swimming in it. The fried onions on top were actually very crispy and nice, but overall, it was not what I expected at all. The ratio of sauce to solid ingredients was way off, it felt more like a bowl of cold soup than a Mousakaa. If they had just named it something like “Mousakaa inspired cold eggplant salad” or even “summer style eggplant gazpacho,” I would’ve accepted it for what it was. But calling this a Mousakaa is totally misleading. As a Mousakaa, I’d rate it 0/10. As a refreshing eggplant dish with a different name, maybe 6 or 7/10. They definitely need to change the menu description to avoid this kind of disappointment. I’ve attached a picture of the dish so you can see what I mean.”
  2. Karashi tenderloin Net −1
“I mean I had a Karashi Tenderloin which was just grease loaded and unpleasant.”

The Bottom Line

Culinara Social Dining is a multi-kitchen restaurant in Zabeel, set on the 24th floor of The Link at One Za'abeel. It works well for groups with different appetites: everyone can order from separate concepts while staying at one table. Reviews mention truffle udon, Chicken Okonomi pizza, lamb shank and Gyoza of the Day as standout choices, alongside pizza, sushi, ramen and Greek dishes.

The main draw is the setting. Diners describe panoramic Dubai skyline views, including the Burj Khalifa and Dubai Frame, with a stylish but relaxed atmosphere. Live musicians, comfortable seating and a smoke-free environment make it workable for family meals, dates, team lunches or a sunset drink.

Parking is described as convenient; valet was included in one visit, while another reviewer reported free parking after validation. Ordering is handled by QR code or app, with payment completed online and food brought to the table from different kitchens. That is efficient, but it can also be the evening’s biggest annoyance.

A table of six spent 30–35 minutes navigating menus, and several reviews note that all dishes ordered together can arrive simultaneously. Portions and value are inconsistent too: one reviewer found the Tabbouleh small for 45 AED and criticised the Eggplant Mousakaa description, while praising the 66 AED Chicken Okonomi pizza.
