It was a very nice experience along with great food. Well definitely be visiting again.”

  2. Cat su Net +1
“The food was excellent, Everything was cooked with flavour and service was good. I enjoyed every dish but the curry sauce on the Cat su was the best I've had anywhere. It is a bit pricey but the food was very enjoyable to eat.”

  10. Miso tantan ramen Net +1
“We tried both the Daikan OG and the Miso Tantan ramen, and both were excellent. Since I can’t handle spicy food, the team kindly prepared non-spicy versions for us. The only downside was that removing the spice made the saltiness a bit more noticeable, but that’s probably something I can easily adjust next time by asking for it to be less salty.”
  11. Smash burger Net +1

What to Avoid (9)

Food 9

  1. Chef’s special ramen Net −1
“Very average. We tried 3 types of Ramen and all were average. In the photo is chef’s special ramen, it was told to be spicy but wasn’t spicy at all. Also the chicken was dry, smelly, did not taste fresh, beef was ok and the broth was good but not spicy as it says.”
  2. Butter corn Net −1
“We also tried the butter corn, which unfortunately didn't taste very fresh.”
  3. Carbonara ramen Net −1
“I had the carbonara ramen and it was overwhelming.”
  4. Chef og ramen Net −1
“I visitied Daikan for dinner and tried several distinct dishes from the menu; prawn popcorn, chicken gyoza, Szechuan chili chicken bao, Chef OG Ramen, and Hibiscus Lemonade. Overall the food was great but here are my comments: we asked for spicy ramen and we couldn’t feel the spice even after adding more chili oil, part of the chicken in the ramen wasn’t cooked enough, and the chicken bao was kind of dry and needed more sauce. On the other hand, the gyoza was delicious, and the prawn popcorn has a very crunchy outer crust with a beautiful sauce.”
  5. Daikan special ramen Net −1
“The Daikan Special Ramen was a bit salty for our liking, but the Shoyu tasted authentic and satisfying.”
  6. Prawn gyoza Net −1
“We ordered the Chef’s Special Ramen, Smoked Shio Dashi Ramen, and Prawn Gyoza. The ramen broth was decent but lacked depth and richness; I’ve had much better ramen elsewhere at a similar or even lower price. The gyoza was disappointing — it was over-fried and slightly burnt on the edges.”
  7. Smashed cucumber Net −1
“The smashed cucumber did not seem to have been fresh, and again mostly vinegary.”
  8. Smoked shio dashi Net −1
“We ordered the Chef’s Special Ramen, Smoked Shio Dashi Ramen, and Prawn Gyoza. The ramen broth was decent but lacked depth and richness; I’ve had much better ramen elsewhere at a similar or even lower price.”
  9. Tan tan ramen Net −1
“My husband absolutely loves ramen both in Japan and at various other restaurants but for some reason, the ramen flavors here just don’t quite hit the mark for him. On our recent visit, we noticed the menu has changed slightly. The Tan Tan Ramen tastes the same as before, but even after asking for it to be made spicier, the spice level was still extremely mild.”

Tips for a Better Visit

Showing 2 of 5
1

Request salt. If ordering a non-spicy bowl, ask for less salt as the seasoning may become more noticeable without the heat.

2

Check hours. Confirm opening time before an early visit: one diner was told the restaurant opens at 11:45 rather than 10:00.

Common Concerns

Saltiness

The non-spicy ramen became noticeably saltier for one diner, while another found the Daikan Special Ramen too salty.

The Bottom Line

Daikan Ramen at Dubai Festival City Mall is a casual Japanese restaurant centred on ramen, with bowls ranging from the Daikan OG and shoyu to spicy miso tantan, mazemen and chef’s specials. The strongest reviews focus on rich, comforting broth, firm noodles and generous portions. Prawn popcorn, chicken gyoza and chicken katsu are useful additions when you want to share a few dishes rather than order ramen alone.

The setting is clean, calm and simply styled, though it is not especially spacious. Seating can be tight, and the wooden chairs and flat sofas have been described as hard; some diners sit in the mall lobby or public seating instead. Service is often quick and attentive, including a report of food arriving in under 10 minutes during a full house.

There are a couple of things to manage. “Spicy” ramen is repeatedly described as mild, so serious heat-seekers may be disappointed. If you ask for a non-spicy bowl, consider requesting less salt because the seasoning can become more noticeable.

Food quality is generally praised but not perfectly consistent: reviews mention over-fried gyoza, dry chicken and disappointing vegetarian dishes. Also check the opening time before an early visit, as one diner was told it starts at 11:45 rather than 10:00.
