The Bottom Line

Desi Max is a straightforward Pakistani restaurant in Bur Dubai, with the strongest case for visiting being its filling, traditional food at generally budget-friendly prices. The menu gives breakfast and everyday diners plenty to consider, but the most useful starting points in the reviews are beef nihari with desi naan, qeema naan, and the Friday chicken pulao. Kashmiri chai, paya and halwa puri also appear in the breakfast conversation.

The food feedback is often enthusiastic about flavour. Customers praise the nihari, chicken chargha, aloo qeema and exceptionally soft naan, while falooda and kulfi provide a sweet finish. Portions have been described as generous, and the restaurant sits close to Al Ghubaiba bus station, which makes it handy when travelling by bus or metro.

The setting itself is small and basic, with limited room for families and difficult parking nearby. There are important caveats. Several older reviews mention dirty tables, poorly washed plates or other hygiene concerns; another found the food too oily.

Service has also been slow when staffing was thin, and later reviews describe inconsistent freshness and preparation. For breakfast, call early because halwa puri may sell out. If ordering delivery, check the container when it arrives, as one customer reported spilled nihari.
