  3. Salmon nigiri Net +2
“Next, I enjoyed the Salmon Nigiri, which I rate 9 out of 10. I ordered two servings at once, each order coming with two pieces. Honorable mentions (28)
  1. A5 wagyu Net +1
“Amazing dishes, had to drive all the way from Abudhabi to Dubai multiple times just to enjoy the dining experience here. Food is super tasty and at the top level service is great and I really appreciate the menu where you can taste most of the fine Japanese dishes like the A5 wagyu and much more at a very good prices, dishes are not big yes but it’s an experience and I think most of the restaurants if you want to try A5 you will have pay minimum 900 dirhams or go home, here it coasts 50 dirhams for a small skewer so you can have the experience and getting to know how does it taste. Hats up for the chef! Highly recommend”
  2. Chicken stews Net +1
“And the chicken stews were delicious.”
  3. Chocolate bomber Net +1
“We were two adults eating anything everything possible here. Everything is fresh and tasty (except the meat skewer). Especially sea food is very very fresh. We ordered sushi (spicy), otoro, chutoro and salmon nigiri, Ebi Fry, wagyu skewers, wagyu sliders and king prawn. We finished with chocolate bomber and rosie mess. All of the food was fresh and stomach friendly like you can eat 20 nigiris at once. But the wagyu skewer was not good, not tasty and hard to chew.”

  16. Otoro nigiri Net +1
“The highlight of my meal was the Otoro Nigiri, rated 9 out of 10. I had two orders, and while the first two servings were slightly disappointing—feeling more like Chu Toro or even Akami—the staff quickly rectified the issue. After mentioning the lack of fattiness to the waiter, he offered a replacement without hesitation. The second serving was sublime, capturing the rich, buttery texture that Otoro is known for.”
  17. Otoro tartare with caviar Net +1
“The absolute highlight—and the main event of the entire menu—has to be the otoro tartare with caviar. It is an extraordinary dish. What to Avoid (9)

Food 8

  1. Corn and mizuna sesame salad Net −1
“We started by asking for the recommended dishes, which were the corn and mizuna sesame salad and the yellowtail with black pepper. The salad had been mentioned a lot in online reviews, so I was excited to try it. Mizuna is a type of Japanese mustard green—basically, if you swap it out for baby kale or arugula, add corn and tahini, and mix it all together, you’ve got the same salad to enjoy at home. The yellowtail sashimi was unexpectedly sour due to the vinegar, so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone expecting a traditional Japanese sashimi experience. The pieces of chili in it were completely unnecessary and caused some unpleasant, sudden spicy bites. Now, the sea urchin was creamy, rich, and absolutely worth it—regardless of the price. The foie gras sliders were out of this world. Honestly, the stars of the meal were the sea urchin and the sliders. Everything else either just filled us up or was a total regret, especially the salad and the yellowtail.”
  2. Crispy rice Net −1
“I liked the orders we had instead of one or two of them. Like the crispy rice 🍚 and other order will never going to repeat it. And the lobster.”
  3. Hand roll sushi Net −1
“Good sushi overall. Hand roll sushi not the best I had.”
  4. Ramen Net −1
“Despite the restaurant's accolades, the Ramen fell short of expectations. • The Noodles: The texture was disappointing, bearing a striking resemblance to instant noodles rather than the artisanal, hand-crafted quality one expects from a Michelin-rated spot. • Overall Flavor: While the broth had merit, the lack of depth in the noodle quality made the dish feel average at best. Also, i d add more broth to properly submerge the noodles in it as it meant to be the Japanese way.”
  5. Wagyu skewers Net −1
  6. Wagyu tsukune Net −1
“Didn’t like the wagyu tsukune much as the sauce was a bit weird & nothing special about the beef.”
  7. Yellowtail sashimi Net −1
“The yellowtail sashimi was unexpectedly sour due to the vinegar, so I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone expecting a traditional Japanese sashimi experience. The pieces of chili in it were completely unnecessary and caused some unpleasant, sudden spicy bites.”

1

Try sliders. Make the wagyu sliders one of your first orders; they were repeatedly singled out, including the foie gras version.

2

Order specials. If you sit at the counter, ask about daily specials; one diner found focusing on them a particularly good choice.

The Bottom Line

Goldfish Sushi & Yakitori is a modern Japanese restaurant in Al Wasl where the menu moves between sushi, robata-style small plates and richer comfort-food combinations. For a first visit, the clearest starting points from the reviews are the wagyu sliders, otoro tartare with caviar, nigiri and Ebi Fry. The open kitchen keeps the room lively, while bar seating lets you watch the sushi chef work.

The strongest feedback centres on freshness, presentation and thoughtful service. Otoro nigiri was replaced promptly when one diner felt the first serving was not fatty enough, and several guests described the team as attentive and knowledgeable. House mocktails and soft drinks are also worth considering, particularly if you want a creative non-alcoholic pairing; one review notes that the restaurant does not serve alcohol.

The experience is not uniformly outstanding across the menu. Hand rolls, ramen noodles, shrimp noodles and individual skewers received mixed comments, and one diner found the portions small for the price. Premium ingredients can make the bill feel steep: a review recorded AED 850 for two adults, while another mentioned an A5 wagyu skewer at 50 dirhams.

There is outdoor seating, and the counter is a good choice for the preparation view. Parking near the mall can become difficult at busy times, so the nearby larger car park may be more convenient.
