What to Avoid (3)

Food 3

  1. Galbi Net −1
“Galbi was overcooked, like beef jerky from a gas station.”
  2. Set menu Net −1
“We ordered the set menu, which included three types of meat and several banchan. The meat was a little chewy overall, and the galbi was noticeably on the sweeter side. Still, the meal was generally okay. We liked that the banchan were refilled, which added nicely to the experience.”
  3. Wagyu on the grill Net −1
“We got the wagyu on the grill, which was properly vetilated so you can leave without smelling like a kitchen. That said, the one thing that makes this 4 stars, not 5 for the food is the wagyu. It was a little fatty, with even gristle. When you get such a minute portion, it needs to be better. Everything else I ate was great, high quality, and presented well. If you are a Korean food fan, or a novice, you will like this place. To be fair the beef was very flavorful.”

Tips for a Better Visit

Showing 2 of 6
1

Ask Korean beef. Ask whether the special Korean beef is available; one diner preferred it to the wagyu and found it especially delicious.

2

Choose table service. Expect the team to grill the meat for you rather than running a DIY barbecue; this makes the meal more relaxed.

The Bottom Line

HANU Dubai is a contemporary Korean restaurant in Palm Jumeirah where the main event is Korean barbecue cooked at your table. You can order set menus such as “Meat Me at the Grill”, try premium Korean beef or wagyu, and explore dishes including seafood pancake, galbi, beef gyozas and Korean stews. Staff generally guide diners through the menu and explain the cooking clearly, making the format approachable even for newcomers.

The setting is a major part of the appeal. Reviews describe a detailed, elegant interior with curved wood, rooftop surroundings and a comfortable atmosphere that suits date nights, birthdays, anniversaries and groups. The smokeless grill is a practical bonus: diners can enjoy barbecue without leaving smelling like a kitchen.

Cocktails and wine also receive specific praise. Quality is not completely consistent. Several guests loved the beef and banchan, but others found meat chewy, wagyu fatty or ordinary, and galbi sweeter than expected.

Seafood pancake and glass noodles also drew criticism in individual visits. Pricing can feel high, and one diner reported uncomfortable upselling. The restaurant can be tricky to locate through the hotel or shopping mall, so allow extra time and check whiskey pour sizes carefully.
