Food 7

  1. Hokkaido corn Net +3
“-> Hokkaido Corn. This was a very delicious corn “Salad”. The corn was tender, not very sweet, served with a hint of Sichuan, yet not overtly spicy. The cream on top really brought everything together.”
  2. Milk bread Net +3
“Now onto the food I started my lunch with some Japanese milk bread and a dashi broth and boy did that excite my palate.”
  3. Squid pil pil Net +3
“The Squid Pil Pil is a must to order!”
  4. Wood fired duck Net +3
“-> Wood Fired Duck. This was a dry aged duck breast, cooked with home made hoisin sauce. When I was thinking about what main I wanted, I was contemplating between this and the Katsu, and honestly I was glad I went for the Duck. The cook was just perfect, the sauce was neither too sweet, nor too tart. It complemented the gamy meat perfectly. It came with a Waldorf salad side? Honestly this is where they lose points, I feel like they could’ve added a root vegetable or a starchy vegetable here? It just felt like it needed that added element. But the cook itself was perfection. The salad was a miss for me be because the crispy duck was warm, and I’m BIG on texture. The warmth of the duck wilted the fruits and leaves a bit, so it was weird. I didn’t enjoy that.”
  5. Phoenix Net +2
“The highlight of the evening was their signature cocktail, "Phoenix" -absolutely divine! It’s now my all-time favorite, with a perfect balance of flavors that left me craving more.”
  6. Pumpkin soup Net +2
“Everything was excellent, but the milk bread and pumpkin soup were real highlights.”
  7. Strawberries and cream Net +2
“For dessert, do not miss the strawberries and cream!! It was out of this world and you wouldn't look at a strawberry the same way again!”

  19. Potato mochi Net +1
“-> Potato Mochi. This one blew my mind. It’s basically a gnocchi but with a mochi texture. It’s more flavourful and more chewy gnocchi, with a boatload of truffle on top. I am neither a fan of gnocchi or mochi (it’s a texture thing for me), but I was truly pleasantly surprised with this dish. The Mochi is in a cacio e pepe sauce, so the truffle really comes through.”

“Must-tries: the handrolls, the roasted aged duck, and the Gariguette strawberry dessert (simple but absolutely amazing).”
  21. Savory mochi Net +1

The dish was melting in my mouth—rich and well-balanced by the acidity in the tomato salad cutting through the richness from the fat in the veal. The addition of the tomato salad was genius, as it added a pleasant freshness and balanced out the dish.”

  38. Wagyu tartare Net +1
“-> Wagyu Tartare. This had bone marrow mixed into it. Honestly, I’m not a fan of raw beef like that, but I went in for a few servings. The menu says it has wasabi and shiso, but the tartare is so perfectly balanced it’s hard to place it. In a GOOD way. The meat is tender, doesn’t have that weird raw feeling, cut just the right size. Honestly, would order this when I go again. They serve you lettuce leaves to eat the Wagyu with, but honestly the Japanese Milk Bread with the tartare is perfect.”

The Bottom Line

Maison Dali is a fine-dining restaurant in Business Bay built around surrealist art, moody interiors and Mediterranean-Japanese cooking. You can choose à la carte dishes or a “leave it to the chef” tasting menu, with reviews highlighting the miso turbot, wood-fired duck, squid pil pil and veal dishes. Bar Dali next door adds a separate cocktail-led start or finish to the evening.

The strongest theme across the reviews is the combination of visual design and attentive hospitality. Guests describe paintings, art installations, theatrical details and music that make the room feel intimate and distinctive. Tableside moments can include steak grilling, a dessert flambéed in butter, sugar and bourbon, or a fire-side presentation, although one tasting-menu diner said the promised interaction did not happen at their table.

Non-drinkers are well catered for through a juice programme and non-alcoholic wine menu. Reported lunch deals included AED 130 for two courses plus AED 35 for dessert, and AED 165 for a four-course lunch, though these should be checked before booking. There are a few cautions: one reviewer found portions small and flavours bland, while another noted that bread was not complimentary.

The dark lighting suits the concept but is not ideal for phone photography.
