Honorable mentions (14)
  1. Beef kebab Net +1
“I ordered a half portion of beef kebab for 18 dirhams. The table was clean; they covered it with plastic before serving—very hygienic. Prices were reasonable, and the menu was rich. Honestly, I was enjoying my meal and thinking of giving five stars. But then, an Indian man came in and started circling my table, staring at me and my food like I owed him something. He talked to the owner and his friend, pointing at me, saying, “He’s finished.” I had only eaten half my plate. Then he placed his two phones on my table, sat 30 cm in front of me, and clearly pressured me to finish and leave. What shocked me most was that the staff and owner said nothing. I felt completely disrespected, so I got up and left. The food was good—but the behavior of that customer and the fact that the staff allowed it ruined the whole experience. Manners and respect should be universal, regardless of your nationality. I feel sorry for that Indian man! P.S. There were 10 empty tables in the restaurant at that moment.”

The Bottom Line

Mumbai Haji Ali is a casual Indian restaurant in Deira, with reviews centring on charcoal-grilled chicken and shawarma. The strongest food reports describe the charcoal chicken as smoky, juicy and street-style, while the shawarma is praised for its crispy, masala-rich filling. Mixed grill platter, chicken wings, fresh naan and charcoal rice also appear as worthwhile choices, and the Haji Ali falooda and Dry Fruit Cream give dessert fans something more specific to seek out.

Prices are repeatedly described as reasonable or pocket-friendly. The restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, though it can be crowded and street-like rather than polished. A review says it stays open late, and another recommends arriving before the busiest period.

There are meaningful consistency concerns. Customers have reported dry or overly oily chicken, uncooked spice, poor drinks, and one serious complaint about mouldy chicken. Service feedback is similarly mixed: some diners found staff warm and attentive, while others described rude behaviour, incorrect dishes and long delivery waits.

If ordering for delivery, confirm spice and check that the dish matches your request. Parking is difficult in this busy part of Deira. One local workaround is the RTA parking opposite Naif police station, followed by a walk to the restaurant.
