  3. Kare-kare Net +2
“Kare-Kare - This is one of my favourite filipino dish, and when I am eating this dish, I base the taste without the Bagoong (Shrimp Paste). Their kare-kare lacks of grinned peanut. Maybe it is me as I preferred more grinned nuts. I can say their Kare-kare tastes so well as it is not ‘nakakaumay’.”
  4. Shrimp gambas Net +2
“Shrimp Gambas - I don’t usually eat this dish as we don’t use to cook this in our province and I have no idea the authentic taste. But based on what they served, it tastes so well.”

What to Avoid (6)

Food 6

  1. Chicken peri-peri Net −1
“I ordered noon food, I was really looking forward to trying their chicken peri-peri, but I left extremely disappointed. First off, the chicken was dry and overcooked, almost like it had been reheated several times. There was nothing tender or juicy about it, which made it hard to enjoy. As for the peri-peri sauce, I’m not even sure what it was supposed to be. It lacked any real heat or flavor, more like a bland, watered-down version of what peri-peri is supposed to taste like. No spice, no kick—even the java rice or i don't what was called so oily. I definitely don't recommend that dish. Extremely horrible. And the end i threw it and waste of money..”
  2. Fried fish Net −1
“Once it began there were plenty of food options to enjoy from chicken, beef, fried fish, soup, sweet treats, to mixed fruits. Everything tasted just the way we hoped for!”
  3. Fried tilapia Net −1
“One small area for improvement: the fried tilapia some was slightly overcooked, which made it a bit tough to bite into.”
  4. Garlic rice Net −1
“Garlic Rice - it is quite bland as I cannot taste the garlic itself.”
  5. Ginataang bilo-bilo Net −1
“Ginataang Bilo-Bilo - It will attract you as it is colourful as you can see green, purple, and white glutinous rice balls, and orange sweet potato. The banana is quite soggy, which makes me avoid eating it. This supposed to have jackfruit and tapioca pearls, but I don’t mind. Level of sweetness wise, not too sweet, and not thin. The taste is giving meryenda/dessert.”
  6. Og chicken Net −1
“What started as a simple OG Chicken craving turned into a surprise brunch buffet situation and yes, it was totally worth it. One small hiccup: the buffet dishes weren’t heated, which made the signature chicken taste a little off. Hoping they fine-tune that, because everything else is on point. The place is clean, the staff is attentive, and the promos and menu variety? Chef’s kiss.”

The Bottom Line

Pancake House Al Barsha is a Filipino restaurant that works for more than a pancake breakfast. You can order classic pancakes, Filipino comfort dishes such as Palabok, Batchoy and kare-kare, or try the notably popular tacos. Reviews also highlight fried chicken, Lomi and chicken tocino, so the menu suits diners who want a filling savoury meal as well as something sweet.

The biggest draw is value-led buffet dining. Reviews mention weekend brunch and lunch buffets, including a brunch at AED 39 and lunch at AED 29, while another diner found a brunch buffet with one drink for AED 39. The spread may not be huge, but one customer found it fulfilling; others praised the chicken dishes and variety.

Wednesday’s Buy 1 Get 1 Free offer on selected meals is worth checking before you order. The setting is generally cosy, warm and family-friendly, with reviews mentioning birthday celebrations. Service is repeatedly described as attentive and accommodating.

Plan around a few practical drawbacks: parking is limited at busy times, Sunday brunch can attract a long wait, and one guest found the music too loud. A separate review reported that some buffet dishes were not heated, so expectations may depend on timing.
