Food 6

  1. Bread basket Net −1
“4. Not much of an issue but the comped bread basket has stale bread, too. If you’ve been to The Cheesecake Factory you’d know a freshly baked basket. Forget being stale it’s almost like the breads has either been seating on their counter since the night before or it was heated in a microwave because that was also a hard rock bite in there. But meh it was free so really just an observation.”
  2. Crème brûlée crepe Net −1
“3. Crème Brûlée Crepe swimming in unnecessary strawberry puree filled with strawberries that are far from fresh.”
  3. Omelette Net −1
“And for the 10th consecutive year they still serve coffee & jam at the same time with omelette & salad with orange juice 🤭😂🙈 If you have your coffee first the the omelette gets cold. And if you have your omelette first the coffee gets cold.”
  4. Side of avocado Net −1
“I ordered a side of avocado and almost 10 minutes after my food arrived, the avocado was delivered.”
  5. Strawberry charlotte cake Net −1
“The worst strawberry charlotte cake I ever ordered. It has an egg smell and not fresh at all and it’s totally different than the other branches taste.”
  6. Tagliatelle Net −1
“2. Tagliatelle - you just know the chicken, pasta and sauce aren’t fresh. Chicken dry, pasta broken into pieces and mushy (forget al dente) and broken sauce with more oil than cream. Again with the salt and pepper shaker.”

The Bottom Line

PAUL in Umm Hurair is a French bakery and restaurant at Wafi Mall, useful for a sit-down breakfast, coffee break or bakery purchase. Reviews specifically mention French-style breakfast, eggs Benedict, omelettes, croissants, bread and hot chocolate. The bakery selection also includes cakes and tarts, while the restaurant menu reaches beyond breakfast to items such as the chicken burger, bufalina pizza and steak.

The setting is one of the branch’s stronger points. Customers describe it as calm, spacious and relaxing, with outdoor seating and a terrace overlooking the mall surroundings. That makes it a comfortable choice for a quiet conversation, and one reviewer found the branch relatively empty at 10am on a weekday.

Families have also reported enjoying breakfast here, including children. Service is generally described as friendly and attentive, but it is not perfectly consistent. Some customers had to look for a waiter or wait longer than expected, while one visitor left after 15 minutes without being served.

Food quality has similar variation: many reviews praise fresh bread and desserts, but others mention stale pastries, an unappealing strawberry Charlotte cake and declining portions relative to price. Check the pastry display before ordering, and consider asking about freshness if buying a cake. Ramadan hours and service conditions have also affected at least one visit.
