What to Avoid (1)

Food 1

  1. Fattoush salad Net −1
“Service wasn’t the best. Found a small curly hair in the fattoush salad. Showed the waitress, who apologised and later said the manager refused to take it off the bill or replace it. We paid anyway as it wasn’t a large amount, but the way it was handled left us feeling very disappointed and like food hygiene isn’t taken seriously here. We won’t be returning and do not recommend for this reason.”

The Bottom Line

Qasr Marib Mandi is a Yemeni restaurant in Al Garhoud where the main draw is traditional meat-and-rice cooking. You can order mandi, haneeth, madfoon or fahsa, then eat at a table, on floor seating or in a private room. The reviews are strongest on the meat: haneeth shoulder, mutton mandi and madfoon are described as tender, juicy and slow-cooked, with fragrant rice alongside.

It is also worth considering for a family gathering. The restaurant has plenty of seating and rooms for groups, while several diners mention a clean, spacious setting and Arabic-style atmosphere. Breakfast is another useful reason to visit; Lahsa and Maarab Mix were recommended, with one reviewer saying the portion served two to three people.

Kunafa, fattah and a large tandoori roti also get individual mentions. The experience is not completely consistent. Some guests found the meat portions small for the price, including a meal reported at AED90 for two pieces with soup and yoghurt.

Friday lunch and drinks have been linked to delays, and one complaint described a hair in the fattoush and poor handling afterward. Calling ahead is sensible, particularly for groups or a specific meat dish, since lamb and other items have occasionally been unavailable.
