  15. Malai kofta Net +1
“‘Malai Kofta’: this super rich and smooth curry is a favourite. Malai means cream and kofta is fried balls so add that together to make a vegetarian dish you get soft paneer potato balls(the paneer cubes are stuffed inside the potato with crushed cashew nuts), then gently cooked in a creamy gravy of aromatics, spices, herbs, and subtle use of spices. The texture of this gravy is different and we’ve never had this before so our first time was yum in our tums. The use of neutral ingredients here makes this ideal for anyone who isn’t a fan of spicy food. We loved the simplicity of this dish and potato balls all the waayyy.”

“Modak was delicious. The food reminded me of my mom's cooking. Modak was the show stopper. Made my son's day.”
  20. Paneer tikka masala Net +1
“‘Paneer Tikka Masala’: succulent cubes of cottage cheese or known as paneer cooked in thick red gravy consisting of spices, herbs, puréed tomatoes and onions tossed with tikka masala and capsicum cubes with a drizzle of cream on the top. The paneer just melts in your mouth, the hits of spices are perfect, loved the flavours set here and the use of capsicums-that were slightly smoked made all the difference to this simple dish.”

“🍽Papdi chaat & GOL Gappe. Tangy spicy sweet crispy, all the flavors in a single plate.”

Tips for a Better Visit

1

Try thali. Start with the Gujarati thali; one review reported a serving around AED 42 and praised the soft, hot puris and aamras.

2

Order chaat. Pani puri is a safer first chaat pick than ordering blindly across the menu, given its especially strong reviews.

The Bottom Line

Rangoli is a vegetarian Indian restaurant in Al Karama where the main draw is variety: you can sit down for a Gujarati or North Indian thali, order chaat such as pani puri, or take home a substantial meal box. Reviews also mention Jain chole bhature, masala dosa, khichdi and seasonal aamras puri, so there is plenty beyond one set meal. The Gujarati thali gets the most useful praise.

Diners describe soft, hot puris, fresh-ghee rotis, multiple curries, sweets and chaas, while older reviews report prices from AED 23 to AED 42. Takeaway packaging is described as spill-proof, with one meal box feeding two people; home catering has also worked well for a Ganpati function. The experience is not completely consistent.

Recent feedback reports undercooked parathas, an AC request handled with a fan instead, and disappointing tomato soup and pav bhaji. There is also no washroom, and parking opinions conflict: one reviewer found it easy, another called it an issue. Ask about seating comfort and aamras freshness before ordering, particularly during mango season.
