  2. Masal dosa Net +2
“One amazing south Indian food. Especially Idly and masala dosa I woke up in the morning and had this urge to have homely Idly and masala dosa, so ordered for a delivery. The delivery was quick and the food was hot when delivered. Unwrapped the idly, took a piece of it and dipped into chutney and damn it really got me back home. I never expected this and was flabbergasted. Masala dosa was also crispy and served with sambar and a lot of other curries.”

“Ordered the fried mushrooms appetizer. Sooo good! Had a little scare; I'm very allergic to nuts. Like send to ER by fastest means or i die allergic to, right? No one here spoke good English and I sure don't speak Hindi or Arabic. Finally, by slowly speaking (English), pointing, and so forth was able to get the point across... and No nuts in the appetizer. Which, by the way, was delicious! Excellent selection from the menu, kitchen was pretty fast and the food is fantastic! I can easily see why they are so proud of themselves! As they say; Bottom line, for fast food this is the place to go to! Great food fast for not much $$!”

  4. Special meals Net −1
“This afternoon I ordered what Saravana Bhavan had a special meals at AED 22 each. They serve three chapathis or poori's along with few servings of gravy as sides, curry along rice and a sweet. We wanted to save ourselves from the oil so we requested chapathi instead of poori. The chapathis were half cooked, very bad quality, very hard on the fringes. The gravy items were like something had to be given so u dip the chapathis and eat for a few calories and not to really relish a meal. The small cup of sweet payasa was good. Rice and curry was ok.”

The Bottom Line

Saravanaa Bhavan’s Al Quoz branch is a South Indian vegetarian kiosk in the Oasis Mall food court, with breakfast as its clearest reason to visit. The menu gives you familiar staples such as masala dosa, idli, vada and mini tiffin; reviewers also call out ghee roast, Mysore masala dosa and filter coffee. One diner described the flavours as a nostalgic taste of Chennai, while another said the dosa compared favourably with the chain’s Delhi NCR branch.

The experience is more variable than the best food reviews suggest. Some visits bring hot food quickly, extra sambar and chutney, and friendly service. Others involve 15–25-minute waits, mild or inconsistent flavours, a cold vada, tasteless idli or a dosa that was either limp or unusually hard.

Counter manners are the biggest warning sign: several customers describe rude, dismissive interactions, although one reviewer praised the team’s honesty after staff honoured a prepaid order four days later. It is a self-service food-court setup rather than a polished standalone restaurant. Expect weekend crowds, listen for your dish being called, and check what comes with a mini tiffin before paying.

Prices can feel high for the portions, particularly for tea and some meals.
