Shakuhachi Dubai & Chomei Shakuhachi Studio
Al Barsha South
The Shakuhachi is the traditional bamboo flute of Japan with a history of more than one thousand years. It originated in China in the 7th century and was imported into Japan’s imperial court music as part of its noble arts. Following a period of disappearance, the Shakuhachi resurfaced in the hands of mendicant monks of the Fuke branch of Zen Buddhism and was used as a meditation tool for breath/mind/body alignment. The Zen monks who played the Shakuhachi for their meditation became known as Komuso: The Hollow Monks of Nothingness.
