Food 5

  1. Afternoon set Net −1
“I visited at 4:00 PM expecting a smooth and timely afternoon set. Instead, the service was shockingly poor. The set wasn’t served until 4:40 PM — a 40-minute delay — with no communication or apology from the staff. I had to repeatedly ask where the food was, and no one showed the slightest attentiveness or concern. When the food finally arrived, it only made things worse. It was neither fresh, nor delicious, nor even edible. The quality was far below any acceptable standard, and certainly not what one would expect from a place that claims to offer a premium experience.”
  2. Beef burger Net −1
“I don’t like the beef Burger & Shrimp pasta!! the pasta has extremely fat and not cooked well ! The beef looks not fresh.”
  3. Chicken with fries Net −1
“Chicken with fries We spent one hour waiting. They brought only one coffee, two portions of nuggets, and raw chicken. The chicken is served with fries and salad — we sent it back, and when it was returned, the salad was missing and the chicken was still raw.”
  4. Coronation chicken Net −1
“I had one of the worst sandwiches I've ever eaten here. The coronation chicken was a paste, salty and tasted nothing like coronation chicken.”
  5. Shrimp pasta Net −1
“I don’t like the beef Burger & Shrimp pasta!! the pasta has extremely fat and not cooked well ! The beef looks not fresh.”

Drinks 3

  1. Beer Net −1

  2. Cappuccino Net −1
“Ordered latte macchiato, intentionally asked the server how they do it because it was missing essential ingredient and looked no different than a cappuccino, he didn’t know.”

Common Concerns

Several visits involved long waits, including 40 minutes for an afternoon set and 45 minutes for a child’s chicken breast.

Food inconsistency

Food quality varies sharply: one visit reported raw chicken on return, while another called the coronation chicken sandwich salty paste.

The Bottom Line

Sultan’s Lounge is a Palm Jumeirah hotel lounge where the setting is often the main event. You can book afternoon tea with finger sandwiches, pastries, an extensive tea menu and, on some themed occasions, a chocolate bear to take home. Shisha, coffee, desserts and live classic music give it a different rhythm in the evening.

The Ottoman-inspired interiors, marble, chandeliers and pool-and-sea outlook make it appealing for a relaxed catch-up or photographs. The afternoon tea receives especially strong praise, with the scones and lemon curd singled out by one guest. Standalone food is more mixed: short ribs, chicken Caesar and catch of the day were enjoyed, but other visits reported raw chicken, a poor coronation chicken sandwich and very small Japanese portions.

Service is the main uncertainty. Some guests describe warm, attentive hospitality, while others waited 40 minutes for an afternoon set, 45 minutes for a child’s meal, or 30 minutes just to pay. Prices can feel steep when food misses the mark; one guest reported around 310 AED for a beef burger and shrimp pasta.

Confirm afternoon-tea timing, allow extra time, and check the bill before leaving.
