Food 7

  1. Egg fried rice Net −1
“Egg fried rice 5/10 -It needs more taste.”
  2. Green curry fried rice Net −1
“I went at lunchtime and ordered green curry fried rice. I asked them to change the fried egg to a plain omelette, as green curry usually comes with a plain omelette as a side dish. Luckily, the staff was very helpful and helped me change it. The outcome of my green curry dish was my nightmare — from the green color of it, it looked like they had added green coloring to my dish not from the paste that it should be. So it’s tasteless for me even I ordered Thai spicy. After just a few spoons, I left it and asked the staff to take it away. I have green curry paste at home — it would be better if I made a new one myself. Asians never waste food.”
  3. Half a duck Net −1
“I ordered half a duck, but what I received was completely unacceptable. Instead of a proper half portion, the box contained random scraps, bones, and unevenly cut pieces, with no clear structure or presentation of a “half duck.” The food looked careless and poorly assembled. Some pieces were dry, others were mostly skin and bone. It honestly felt like leftovers, not a full-priced portion. For the price paid, I expected a proper half duck, not something that shouldn’t even be served. Very disappointed with the quality and portion control. I will not be ordering again.”
  4. Khao suey Net −1
“We ordered Khao Suey from this restaurant via Keeta and unfortunately found hair in the food. Instead of offering an apology or taking responsibility, the restaurant asked us to return the dish and did not provide any compensation. They were even indifferent about us filing a complaint with food safety authorities. This complete lack of accountability made the experience even more frustrating. Extremely disappointing customer service. If zero stars were an option, that’s what I would give. I will definitely never be ordering from here again.”
  5. Pecking duck Net −1
“Im very disappointed in your management he keeps telling me your pecking duck is very very dry like a stone. And he’s agreeing! Wth what a poor management dont know how to handle a customer complaint! i paid a good price to expect my cravings to be tender and juicy. How i got very dry and i think this cook morning very dry im very disappointed even my kids cannot eat this one! I cannot even chew its like they fry this pecking duck!”
  6. Rice and chicken red curry Net −1
“Later, we ordered rice and chicken red curry, but once again, there was no real taste or depth of flavor.”
  7. Stir fry chicken basil Net −1
“Stir fry chicken basil 5/10 -Nothing special to it. Chicken is dry and it has a watery sauce texture.”

Drinks 1

  1. Thai tea Net −1
“I was really disappointed with the food here — it simply wasn’t tasty at all. I ordered a Thai tea, but it was extremely sweet and full of sugar.”

Tips for a Better Visit

Showing 2 of 6
1

Try curry. For a first order, consider the Thai green curry; it is specifically recommended by a recent diner.

2

Ask spicy. If you want serious heat, ask for Thai-style spice rather than assuming a standard dish will be very hot.

The Bottom Line

Tangerine is a Thai and Far Eastern restaurant in Business Bay that suits office lunches, relaxed dinners and sharing plates. The menu gives you plenty to explore: reviews mention Thai green curry, Pad Thai, Tom Yum soup, Khao Suey, sushi and generous seafood dishes. Several diners describe the food as fresh, hot and full of flavour, and one reviewer called the Pad Thai the biggest portion they had encountered.

The setting is a recurring part of the appeal. Reviews describe a calm, homey interior, while outdoor tables can offer an evening downtown view and a Burj Khalifa backdrop. Service is often quick, welcoming and accommodating; one diner was able to order a rice-free preparation, and another had a preference for steamed fish changed to fried.

For weekday workers, the Executive Lunch Menu was reported at AED 49. Drivers should ask about validation: a review says spending AED 75 brings two hours of free parking. There are some important inconsistencies, though.

Thai diners have questioned the authenticity and seasoning of certain dishes, and delivery reviews reported a hair in Khao Suey and a poorly portioned, dry half duck. If ordering takeaway, inspect the food carefully; for a first visit, dine-in dishes with stronger positive feedback are the safer starting point.
