What to Avoid (5)

Food 5

  1. Bottomless lunch Net −1
“Booked the ‘Bottomless Lunch’ as it was advertised as all you can eat and drink. Arrived and could only order one small plate. Realised this after ordering and asked if we could just pay for the 2 small plates we had instead of £120 for the full package. They said no. So paid the full amount for 2 small plates - which were on the main menu for around £20. Pointed this out to the waitress who went to speak to her manager, only for her to come back and still say no. Terrible customer service and the food we did have was poor”
  2. California rolls Net −1
“The food was okay — not bad, but not amazing. We had sushi (California rolls wrapped in mame nori instead of seaweed, which I personally didn’t like), a chicken sandwich (which was good), and tacos (not very flavorful).”
  3. Chicken tacos Net −1
“My truffle sushi was just okay, and my friend's chicken tacos had a strange taste in both the bread and chicken.”
  4. Fruit platter Net −1
“But the biggest disappointment was the fruit platter. For AED 85, we got a few slices of watermelon, melon, half a passion fruit, a few strawberries, and some blueberries — way overpriced, and worse, the quality was very poor. The melon tasted off, the blueberries were old, and the watermelon had a stale fridge flavor. Honestly, it made me feel sick.”
  5. Taco eggs Net −1
“I tried the taco eggs and the mango smoothie. The mango smoothie was very good , delicious and refreshing. However, the tacos were quite average in taste and a bit messy to eat”

The Bottom Line

The 305 is a beach-club restaurant and bar in Jumeirah where you can book a day bed or cabana, use the pool, spend time on the beach and order food and cocktails. Its pastel pink-and-blue Miami styling is a major draw, while reviews also praise the relaxed Monday atmosphere and adults-only pool setting. Food is broad enough for a full day: breakfast includes a croissant, smoked salmon bagel and French toast; pizza, sushi and brunch are also mentioned, along with cocktails and white sangria.

The short rib empanadas, curly fries and Lady in Red cocktail received particularly enthusiastic feedback. Quality is not completely consistent, though: tacos, some sushi and an AED 85 fruit platter were criticised. Budget carefully.

Cabana or sunbed charges may be redeemable against food and drinks, but terms vary: one review reported a weekday cabana fully redeemable and only 50% redeemable at weekends. Food and drinks were considered expensive by some guests, and valet parking may cost extra. Book ahead rather than relying on a walk-in phone confirmation.

Also check your seating if music matters, as nearby venues can overlap, and families should confirm the pool rules before visiting.
