  7. T-bone steak Net 0

    Only neutral feedback

“Due to the low carb diet I’m on, I chose the T-bone steak, specifically asking for it to be cooked medium-rare, while my companion ordered the Fish and Seafood Platter. It took around 25-30 minutes for our food to arrive but hello-hello my steak was tepid at best and medium-well done – Grrr! I sent it back and picked at my (rather good) creamed spinach while I waited. The Fish and Seafood Platter my companion ordered turned out to be a piece each of fish, shrimp, scallop, calamari, etc. and a bowl of chips (French fries), hardly what I’d call a platter but good enough. He was happy. So was I when my steak finally turned up – done the way I wanted it this time. The food was good but certainly not what will bring me back nor do I imagine what gave this pub its stellar high rating of 4.6 on Zomato.”

“Half roast chicken (-1/5) - fries were good but chicken was tough and had no flavour.”
  3. Sirloin steak Net −1
“Sirloin Steak (1/5) – Unfortunately, the meat was very tough. Probably the worst steak I've had. Veggies were good though.”
  4. Popcorn Net −2
“While enjoying a bowl of popcorn, I discovered a cigarette butt, along with the ashes, nestled among the kernels. Shocked and disappointed, I immediately informed the manager about the issue.”

The Bottom Line

Tipsy Tikka is a Four Points by Sheraton gastropub in Bur Dubai that works particularly well for a casual drink, a match, or a relaxed catch-up. Reviews point to big-screen cricket and football viewing, billiards, draft beers and beer buckets, while the setting leans towards a cozy old-English bar rather than a formal dining room. Food is a mixed but interesting part of the experience.

Fish & Chips gets repeated praise, and customers also mention the Beet and Buffalo Salad, beef sliders with fries, lamb biryani, kebabs and chicken tikka flatbread. The Indian dishes are a strong reason to look beyond standard pub food, although one customer found the sirloin steak very tough and the half roast chicken bland and tough. Timing matters.

Happy hour is reported from noon to 6pm, with some beer-bucket offers after 6pm; music gets louder after 9pm. Service is often described as polite and attentive, but another visit had a drink sitting unstarted after a roughly 15-minute wait. Prices were called average for the area by one reviewer, while another found food expensive for its quality.

The bar can also feel uncomfortably cold, so choose your seating carefully.
