Tips for a Better Visit
Request details. Ask for a written diagnosis and itemised explanation before approving major transmission work.
Confirm warranty. Get the warranty period and coverage in writing before authorising the repair, as reviews disagree about warranty support.
Compare quotes. Compare the quote with another garage before proceeding; one Audi owner reported a large price gap elsewhere.
Clarify inspection fees. Before handing over the car, ask whether opening or dropping the gearbox carries a separate labour charge.
Check turnaround. If timing matters, ask for a firm completion estimate; one customer reported a three-day repair after other garages took five days.

The Bottom Line
Compass Automatic Gear LLC is an automatic transmission specialist in Al Quoz, and the reviews are strongest when describing technical gearbox work. Customers mention repairs to an Audi A5 transmission, a Chevrolet Silverado torque converter and an automatic transmission valve body and output speed sensor. Those examples make the shop relevant for drivers dealing with specific transmission faults rather than routine general servicing.
Several customers praise the team’s diagnosis, cleanliness and communication. One reviewer said a problem unresolved elsewhere was fixed in three days, with a warranty, while another reported that a technician collected a stranded car from about an hour away and fixed it the same day. Reviews also describe punctual delivery and transparent explanations.
There is a meaningful caution on price and aftercare. Some customers call the work expensive, and others say the same transmission problem returned after a full repair. One Passat CC owner paid 10,500dh, returned twice and later reported an unresolved clutch issue.
Another Audi owner was quoted AED 7000+ to repair a gearbox and AED 750 just to open it for inspection. Ask for a written diagnosis, total cost, warranty terms and any inspection or removal fees before approving the job.
