  9. Fugu sashimi Net +1
“And the dish that truly moved me was the fugu sashimi! Not only was it beautifully presented, but each slice revealed delicate and refined flavors with every bite. Being able to enjoy fugu in Dubai felt like such a luxury”
  10. Fugu tessa Net +1
“Fugu tessa is served raw. The dish is always prepared by highly skilled and licensed chefs who meticulously remove all the toxic organs (liver, ovaries, etc.) to prevent contamination. The meat is then sliced exceptionally thin, often so transparent that the pattern on the plate underneath is visible, requiring masterful knife skills. It had a very subtle, delicate, and light umami flavor, lacking a strong "fishy" smell. Its primary appeal when eaten raw is its unique, firm, and slightly chewy or gelatinous texture. It was served with a ponzu (citrus-based soy) sauce and garnishes like spicy grated radish (daikon), fresh chives and bright sudachi citrus. For us the experience was less about a powerful flavor, but more about the delicate texture, the beautiful presentation, and the thrill of consuming a potentially deadly fish that has been rendered safe by an expert. The staff at the restaurant are friendly, helpful and courteous. Ambiance is great, Chef Takashi Namekata even spared some time to talk with us which made the whole experience so magical Despite being vegeterians we had the fish, just for a great curated experience and it was worth it”

The Bottom Line

TakaHisa is a Japanese fine-dining restaurant on Bluewaters Island for meals built around premium ingredients, careful technique and attentive service. You can choose an omakase course at the chef’s counter, order à la carte, or combine sushi and wagyu. Reviews particularly highlight the Ozaki Beef Katsu Sando, beef carpaccio with caviar and wasabi, and exceptionally fresh sushi.

The omakase is the most interactive option. Chefs prepare dishes in front of guests and explain the ingredients and techniques, which several reviewers found especially valuable. Wagyu appears in multiple formats, from katsu sando and shabu-shabu to carefully paced tasting courses.

The menu also includes less familiar choices such as fugu ramen and fugu sashimi. The room is elegant, calm and comfortable rather than party-oriented. Terrace seating adds views and a breeze, and one diner paired it with shisha and à la carte ramen after the tasting menu.

Service is consistently described as warm, knowledgeable and attentive without being intrusive. This is an expensive restaurant, and one review felt it could be slightly overpriced even by Dubai standards. The setting, ingredient quality and chef interaction make it more naturally suited to a special occasion than an everyday meal.
